SOLAS Compliant Handheld Two-Way Radios

We stock a good range of two-way radios which meet or exceed the current SOLAS regulation on fire safety requirements at sea. The radios in this section, from leading brands such as Motorola and Icom, all meet the stringent ATEX standards required in potentially explosive environments, and therefore comply with the latest Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) regulations for seagoing vessels constructed after 1 July 2014. These state that:

"a minimum of two two-way portable radiotelephone apparatus for each fire party for fire-fighter´s communication shall be carried on board. Those two two-way radiotelephone apparatus shall be of an explosion-proof type or intrinsically safe."

Ships constructed before 1 July 2014 are required to have adopted the SOLAS requirements no later than their vessel's first survey after 1 July 2018.

To assist you in becoming completely SOLAS-compliant and reducing the risk of fire at sea, RadioTrader also supplies a range of ATEX-approved accessories for your radio, including ATEX batteries, ATEX headsets, ATEX PTT adaptors, ATEX remote speaker microphones and ATEX carry-cases.

We've written in more detail about upgrading your ships radios to meet SOLAS requirements. Please get in touch for help choosing the right radio equipment for your needs.
